What We Do
Before the technology comes the planning, the funding, and the relationships. That's our work.
Energy Systems
Two technology tracks. One development model.
We advance geothermal and renewable energy projects through the same disciplined approach: community-led, ownership-focused, and built for the long term.
Flagship Track
Geothermal Development
Origin's primary technical focus. We develop community-scale geothermal systems using Rodatherm's patented closed-loop Waterless Geothermal System, a no-extraction, no-depletion technology suited for northern Canada. Reliable baseload heat and power. Built to last decades.
- Resource assessment & feasibility
- Closed-loop system design
- District energy network planning
- Long-term community ownership
Growing Track
Renewable Energy Development
We develop the project structures, partnerships, and funding strategies that allow Indigenous communities to own solar, wind, and hybrid energy systems. We don't build — we develop the conditions for ownership. The right technical partners do the rest.
- Feasibility & technology assessment
- Technical partner brokering
- Ownership & equity structure
- Funding strategy & applications
Supporting Services
The work that makes projects possible.
Every energy track is supported by planning, funding strategy, and capacity building — the foundational work that turns community vision into investable infrastructure.
01
Community Energy Planning
Know your baseline. Plan your future.
Challenge
Many communities lack a clear picture of their current energy use, costs, and infrastructure condition — making it hard to plan or secure funding.
Approach
We conduct energy baseline studies, infrastructure assessments, and demand forecasting. We develop transition pathways that are technically sound and community-led.
Outcome
A clear, actionable energy plan that communities can use to make decisions, attract investment, and pursue energy independence.
02
Infrastructure Strategy & Funding
Build the case. Secure the capital.
Challenge
Energy projects stall at the funding stage. Technical merit alone does not secure investment — you need a strategy, relationships, and the right structure.
Approach
We develop funding strategies, investor materials, and partnership frameworks. We work with government programs, development finance, and Indigenous economic organizations.
Outcome
A funded project with the right ownership structure, aligned partners, and a clear path to construction.
03
Capacity Building
Ownership requires capability.
Challenge
Energy infrastructure is only sovereign if communities have the knowledge to run it. Without local capacity, communities remain dependent on outside operators.
Approach
We develop workforce training programs, youth energy initiatives, and energy literacy curricula tailored to community needs and technical systems.
Outcome
Local operators, informed decision-makers, and a generation of community members connected to their energy future.
Partnership Strategy
Where we are building relationships.
Four pillars. Each reflects a distinct role in how Indigenous community energy projects are funded, governed, designed, and delivered.
Government & Funding
01Advancing Indigenous energy sovereignty.
Origin is building relationships with government departments and funding programs focused on clean energy transition, Indigenous economic development, and community infrastructure. We seek partners who understand that energy independence is foundational to self-determination, and who can support that vision through grants, contributions, and policy alignment.
Indigenous Organizations
02Rooted in Indigenous-led governance.
We work alongside Nations, Tribal Councils, and Indigenous organizations to ensure every project reflects community priorities, advances self-determination, and is structured for long-term community ownership and benefit. These relationships are foundational, not transactional.
Academic & Research
03Evidence-based, community-grounded development.
Origin pursues relationships with universities, research institutes, and climate bodies to ensure our projects are grounded in current science and contribute to knowledge generation across geothermal, solar, wind, district energy, and hybrid renewable systems designed for Indigenous and remote communities.
Industry & Technical
04Engineering built for Indigenous communities.
We engage with renewable energy developers, district energy specialists, geothermal engineers, and infrastructure firms who have the technical depth to deliver reliable systems in remote and Indigenous community contexts. Our projects span geothermal, solar, wind, and integrated energy systems. Quality of execution is non-negotiable.
